Sowore’s 2027 Vision: N500k Minimum Wage and Mass Housing Reforms

African Action Congress (AAC) presidential hopeful and human rights advocate, Omoyele Sowore, has unveiled a bold socio-economic blueprint ahead of the 2027 general elections. If elected, Sowore pledges to radically transform Nigeria’s labor market and housing sector, promising a standard N500,000 minimum wage and the development of one million public homes nationwide.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, May 28, 2026, the AAC leader criticized current economic structures. He vowed that his administration would aggressively dismantle exploitative labor practices and elitist housing policies, which he argues have long marginalized the Nigerian working class.

Revolutionizing Nigeria’s Labor and Wage Structure

A central pillar of Sowore’s campaign is the eradication of systemic worker exploitation. To combat the soaring cost of living, the activist turned politician is proposing a historic national minimum wage of N500,000.

Beyond wage increases, his labor reform agenda targets the eradication of workplace casualization; a practice where employers hire workers on a temporary, unprotected basis to avoid providing benefits. Sowore insists that stabilizing employment and ensuring fair compensation are vital steps toward pulling ordinary citizens out of poverty.

A New Era for Mass Public Housing

Addressing the nation’s severe housing deficit, Sowore outlined an ambitious plan to construct one million public homes. However, unlike traditional government housing schemes, his approach rejects social segregation.

”Under our administration, Nigeria will return fully to mass public housing, but this time, there will be no discriminatory ‘low-income housing’ that segregates the poor and working class,” Sowore asserted.

Key Features of the Proposed Urban Communities:

1. Mixed-Income Developments: Integrating different social classes into the same neighborhoods to foster equality.

2. Eco-Friendly Infrastructure: Incorporating dedicated green spaces and sustainable layouts.

3. Self-Sustaining Hubs: Estates will feature built-in schools, clinics, shopping malls, theaters, playgrounds, and seamless public transport access.

By blending fair wages with inclusive urban planning, Sowore aims to present a radical, welfare-driven alternative for Nigeria’s future.
