African Union Condemns Israel’s Offensive in Gaza

At an African Union summit in Addis Ababa, leaders condemned Israel’s offensive in Gaza, calling for its immediate end.

Chair of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, criticized Israel’s offensive as the most flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and accused it of “exterminating” Gaza’s inhabitants.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh also addressed the summit. Azali Assoumani, president of the Comoros and outgoing chairperson of the African Union, praised the case brought by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice and condemned the genocide committed in Palestine.
