Activist Arrested by Soldiers at Peaceful Protest in Nigeria

Comrade Israel Joe, a Delta State-based activist, was arrested by soldiers at a protest against economic hardship in Nigeria. The protest was scheduled to begin at 7 am at Dsc Roundabout in Warri, but security teams arrived early to intimidate residents.

The state police command invited Joe to a meeting at the State Headquarters in Asaba, where he was instructed to contact ASP OMOKENI GREEN, the Station Officer of the State Intelligence Department, to facilitate the meeting. Israel told SaharaReporters that he was not a person to stop the protest planner by the multitude but that the protest was planned to be violence-free.

Soldiers from the Nigerian Army 3 Battalion in Effurun arrested Joe at the venue and took him away. They handed him over to police in Ekpan Station, where they are planning to charge him for terrorism. Israel is currently in their custody, and the police are planning to charge him for terrorism for instigating a protest.
