Controversy and Victory: Lucky Aiyedatiwa Emerges Winner in Ondo State Governorship Primary Election

The All Progressives Congress has announced Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the victor of the governorship primary election in Ondo State, Nigeria. Aiyedatiwa garnered 48,569 votes, surpassing his nearest rivals, Mayowa Akinfolarin, who received 15,343 votes, and Olusola Oke, who came in third with 14,865 votes. Ahmed Ododo, the Governor of Kogi State and Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee, verified Aiyedatiwa’s win in a widely circulated video.

The election in Ifedore was marred by multiple instances of violence, leading to the invalidation of results from that area. Some stakeholders who took part in the primary election in Ondo State criticized the election committee for its handling of the electoral process, alleging bias.

A female candidate demanded the cancellation of the election due to purported irregularities, denouncing it as a “complete violation of democracy.” She expressed dismay over the absence of election officials and voting materials at polling stations, preventing her and her supporters from exercising their voting rights.

Engr. Folakemi Omogoroye urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and nullify the alleged election, emphasising her long-standing loyalty to the party. However, she was taken aback by the absence of election materials and the sudden declaration of Aiyedatiwa as the winner. She threatened legal action if the election was not voided.

In summary, the All Progressives Congress has confirmed Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the triumphant candidate in the governorship primary election in Ondo State amidst reports of violence and irregularities.
